According to guide books, the Zenko-ji Temple was most likely founded in the 7th century by Yoshimitsu Honda.
His image, along with those of his wife and son, is displayed in the main hall.
This Buddahist temple, unlike most, is open to women, and is one of the most popular in Japan.
